I work with individuals, couples and families of all ages with a wide range of mental health issues. These include but are not limited to Alcohol and Drug related issues, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Dual Diagnosis and relationship related issues. My training started at The University of Kentucky studying Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2005. I have a passion for what I do and cannot imagine doing anything else.

We are a private counseling practice in Lexington. Our remarkable team of clinical social workers and clinical counselors consist of Jessica Jaramillo, Vicki Von Almen Gray, Jennifer Congleton, Emma Lovely, Leeann Hayslett, Monica Stewart, Dr. Imelda Bratton, Joan Scales, Emily Porter, Dr. Becky Hill, and Rachel O'Farrell . I believe that we have to be able to live and deal with stress and issues in the present to achieve success, joy and peace that we seek. Life situations and/or Mental Illness can keep these from happening. Having that neutral person to be a support person can be what's needed . My specialty focus lies in dealing with Depression, ADHD, Marriage Therapy, Anxiety, Infant loss, and Trauma. I have experience with kids, adolescents and adults. Approaches used are (CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Gottman Method and Play Therapy) effective with children, adolescents and adults.

I see counseling as an effective collaborative working relationship based on mutual trust and respect. I was born and raised in Germany and have successfully worked with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds over the years. Cultural sensitivity is therefore very important to me. Prior to moving to Kentucky, I practiced counseling in Wisconsin and Minnesota since 2005 at various clinical settings, such as outpatient mental health clinics and in private practice. I have been in practice since 1999, when I received my MSW from the University of Kentucky. My work has been with families and children in multiple settings, with particular focus on trauma informed care. I am comfortable with family interventions as well as working with individuals. I have always enjoyed working with children and knew that I wanted to work with children and their families in some capacity. This work has been in a variety of settings, in patient, in-home, and outpatient and in school. I have completed the training for Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and understand how trauma impacts an individual.

Often in adulthood, we gain awareness of the maladaptive patterns and traumatizing experiences which have impacted us since childhood. This permits me to address each client's situation more fully and attentively.
