My mission is to support clients in understanding the intersection of mental health and forensic issues, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives beyond their legal challenges. I hold a Masters in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling, Post-Masters Certificate in Addictions Counseling and undergraduate degrees in Legal Studies and Psychology. I am also a trained Mediator and SUPR licensed DUI Evaluator with approval from McHenry County Circuit Court.

For 39 years, I have been passionate about helping people find freedom from personal struggles of depression, anxiety and marriage/ family problems. I treat first with natural alternatives rather than medications. I also specialize in Attention Deficit Disorder and I am a parent of an adult child with ADHD. I personally know the challenges and victory in helping someone with ADHD live their life successfully. I am viewed as the Sherlock Holmes doctor since I work with the most difficult to diagnose cases and help to crack the case of what is causing a person to struggle.

Life is messy. That’s the motto I adopted a few years ago to remind myself that there is no such thing as perfect and rarely does everything go according to plan. My journey has taken me through a variety of messes…divorce, single parenting, job changes, remarriage and the blending of families, just to name a few. Although this isn’t the path that I planned to take, I am thankful for each step because of the healing and growth that accompanied it and ultimately led me to pursue my master’s degree in family and marriage therapy.

As a therapist with over 30 years of experience, I work with church staff, corporate executives, teens and adults to improve leadership skills, personal relationships and business performance. Patients & family members currently dealing with the emotional effects of chronic or terminal illness are also a piece of my practice. I provide individual, marital and family counseling. I treat a variety of common emotional and relational difficulties including anxiety, depression and relationship conflict, as well as parent/child issues, and the emotional effects of medical conditions.

I OFFER INPERSON THERAPY SESSION-MASKED AND UNMASKED. While counseling tends to be about serious issues, it is important to me to know my clients on a personal level, not just the struggles they are going through. I like to know how my clients take their coffee, their idiosyncrasies, and which football team makes them yell at the screen on Sunday's. My approach is practical and honest. I value transparency, humor, self-awareness, and genuine exchanges.

I provide psychotherapy to individuals and couples, specializing in adults and teens. Clients come to me with problems such as anxiety issues, depression, marital stress, relational abuse, job stress and past sexual abuse. I have also worked with men suffering from anger problems. The preferred style is one of a partnership, with agreed upon goals, going at a pace that is comfortable and appropriate for the client.
