I am effective with men and women, from their early 20's and beyond, who feel trapped in fears, emotional pain, and self-defeating patterns in work and relationships. Usually, when we are emotionally stuck, it is because of longstanding conflicts and problematic interaction patterns, often operating outside awareness. Sometimes we feel too ashamed or confused even to look at these parts of ourselves alone, and need the help of a careful and caring listener to help clarify our dilemmas and to help open more choices, more freedom in our lives.
My approach is based on the power of careful and respectful listening, as a way to understand and clarify the patterns, choices, and struggles of each client. As these are clarified, it is possible to face old fears, consider new coping strategies, and tap into sturdier and more effective aspects of ourselves.
I am a very experienced clinician, who has trained many other excellent therapists in the Chicago area. My special strengths are my capacity for patient listening, empathic connection, thoughtful and collaborative exploration of goals and choices, and a sense of the integrity and the growth potential of each individual.
