In my 40 plus years as a mental health care provider, I have found that regardless of how skilled a clinician I may be, I am only effective when I have successfully developed a working relationship with my clients. This relationship is key to addressing issues, providing encouragement, and enhancing the client's personal motivation. To make the necessary changes in thinking, beliefs and behavior, I work together with my clients to bring about about their desired goals. My areas of focus are anxiety and depressive disorders, treatment of trauma, and marital and family issues.

From an early age I have had a passion for people that has driven me to engage people in the world they live in. I have a deep desire to help others find hope and healing as they deal with the struggles of life. I love working with couples. I am passionate about marriage. I have declared war on divorce. It is through a deep sense of emotional safety, relational attunement, and loving responsiveness that we can really experience the gift of marriage. I particularly enjoy working with couples experiencing relationship distress. I value helping couples gain the skills to enjoy passionate, deeply connected relationships. My style of counseling is direct and engaged. I care deeply for my clients and will work hard for you. I believe laughter is healing and want couples to feel safe to risk and be real in the counseling room.

Learning to communicate and resolve conflict effectively is a major key, but it also involves putting our ego aside and truly having a desire to listen to our partner and their needs. I have worked in the field of domestic violence, residential care, and as a community mental health provider for more than 26 years. I have experience treating people with mental illness including Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia. I've worked with child abuse and neglect, families with children with disabilities, people on felony probation, and people impacted by substance abuse and domestic violence.
