Hello! I am Katherine Holtzclaw. I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist and have enjoyed working with families, couples and adolescents in some capacity for 25 years. I am available to talk to you by telephone and answer any questions you may have before we schedule an initial appointment. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have a strong passion to help restore relationships (specifically marriages) and the issues that plague them. My love of treating mental health concerns in a psycho-therapeutic way allows for me to empower my clients to make healthy decisions for a better life. I believe that I am called to this field and hope to challenge irrational belief patterns that keep you stagnant and unproductive by concurrently identifying your strengths, building insight to make better life choices.

Clients have resolved marriage, divorce, custody, parenting issues, vocational and personal problems including acute and chronic depression and anxiety, and addictions. We also have had success helping people overcome various personality and social engagement issues.

With over 25 years, I have assisted many individuals and couples to gain insight into their life, reactions and decision making that is creating difficulty in relationships. The focus of Cognitive Behavorial Therapy (CBT) ( the cornerstone of my approach) is to empower clients to improve their lives through an understanding of individual control over thinking, responses and behaviors. A CBT approach in therapy offers change while highlighting client strength and diversity. My expertise, life experiences and guidance offers an open, accepting environment that creates results. At Madison Family Counseling, our four therapists provide therapy to ages 2 through adulthood. Janeah connects therapeutically with children ages 2-11 using Play Therapy and Animal-Assisted Therapy. Shontell provides therapy to ages 8-adulthood focusing on family dynamics, trauma, and behaviors. Allison provides biblical counseling, offering a reminder that God is right alongside us in our journey of worries and hardships. Richard Spivey is a Marriage and Family Therapist who has been practicing since 2021. He graduated from Mercer University in Macon Georgia with a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Richard believes that in order to be a good therapist he must rely on the patient to help design effective treatment options. He believes that the patient is the only person that can determine if treatment is working so he sees providing therapy as a combined effort between the therapist and the patient.
