I believe life is about relationships. Everything we do in life revolves around getting along with others. I have spent years in the corporate world helping people work well together. Now I want to continue this passion in a counseling setting. I have sat where I will ask you to sit. I don't believe I can be effective for you if I have not been a client too. I welcome everyone who wants to become more aware of why they do what they do. There are always reasons for unwanted behavior. I can help you unravel this puzzle. I can help with anxiety, depression, trauma, communication, marital and professional issues.

*Individuals, Couples, Adults, Teens & Children* We are shaped by our experiences and what we believe about them, but we can all be re-shaped by new information, awareness, and insight which helps to change how you view your past experiences, a "want-to" and consistent and deliberate effort. Whether we have experienced the pain of trauma, divorce, neglect, "wrong" choices, career challenges, relationship/marital issues or feelings of helplessness or hopelessness, it doesn't negate the PURPOSE for which you were created and the success which awaits you.

I provide services for people that struggle with chronic pain, marital difficulties, spirituality, unresolved grief/loss, and problems managing anger.
Reaching out for help and making that initial phone call can be difficult for some people. However, feeling stuck in your life, a job, or in a relationship that is not working can also be difficult. In my practice I strive to help clients gain awareness of what is keeping them stuck and develop effective, healthier, coping strategies for gaining control in their lives.

I have also had much success in marriage counseling, especially using the “Change a Marriage with only One Person in the Room” technique, which began with the book “Divorce Busting”.
Brainspotting is a powerful, flexible, client-centered therapy that goes more deeply and quickly into our stored memories than other therapies. These stored memories are called brain spots. We change the negative ones. After looking for the most effective counseling technique which was also cost efficient for clients, I chose Brainspotting. Brainspotting is based on EMDR but I find BS is best for pinpointing the individual harmful memories which negatively interfere with our lives. The Brainspotting process enables the client to identify and resolve the roots of traumatic or troubling issues.

I work with new moms, couples (pre-marital or married), and individuals desiring to heal past trauma.
Are you tired of being the “dependable one” in your family!? You are juggling multiple roles of mom, wife, career woman. Everyone thinks you are superwoman, yet you are struggling silently. Despite excelling in your career and academia your inner critic says that you are “not good enough” & you need to be doing more! I see you. Maybe you are a professional, power couple looking to “boss up” at work without leaving your relationship behind. Let’s face it, life is hard…Marriage is hard…Raising kids is hard! Between work, kids, and family obligations we have very little left to give! And guess who gets our leftovers? Our marriage!

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
