I specialize in short-term intensive psychotherapy and long-term psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults, and families, and I conduct psychological testing. My work with children and adolescents has involved helping them navigate a range of emotional, behavioral, and academic difficulties. I have worked in private and public schools and counseled parents to help them advocate for their children's needs. My work with adults has included serving in outpatient and inpatient settings to address a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, difficulties managing stressors, relationship, career and marital problems.

I have over 30 years of experience in the evaluation and treatment of adults, and couples. I trained in Chicago and New York, and moved to South Florida since 1992. In private practice since 1991, and held the position of Director of Adult Outpatient Psychology Services at Jackson Memorial Hospital for 13 years, as well as Adjunct Faculty status at University of Miami School of Medicine. In addition to psychodynamic background and by virtue of my teaching and supervisory experience and many years in private practice, I am also well versed in other theoretical approaches and treatments. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a Ph.D. in Linguistics. I have certifications in Trauma treatment and in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindful Self-Compassion, and Mindfulness for treating Children and Teens. I have experience in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, domestic violence, grief, abuse, ADHD, anger issues, self-esteem, and stress management. I offer respectful culturally-sensitive counseling services in different languages to individuals, couples and families with the aim of promoting self-growth, balance, empowerment, quality of life, and well being.

I believe that these two things are fundamentally connected, and that challenges like anxiety and depression often have their root in how we relate (or don’t relate) with other people in love, friendship, family, and professional life. My specialty and passion is therapy for intimacy, couples, sexual dysfunctions, and relationship concerns. I work with individuals and couples who have difficulties adapting to the dynamics of an intimate relationship. This can be the result of traumatic experiences, the need for personal exploration, and/or sexual dysfunctions. The clients I typically work with are disappointed with their relationship and/or sex life, they may have experienced betrayal, they might avoid sex because it’s painful, stressful, or anxiety-producing, or want to expand their sex horizons (e.g., Kink, Vanilla, BDSM, etc.).
