My name is Randa Saleh, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Southern California and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with clients of all ages and different walks of life. My focus areas of practice are trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, family conflicts, and personal life transitions. My philosophy of therapy is holistic, meaning that I believe people are made up of many parts: body, soul (mind, emotions, will), and spirit. These parts must function in a balanced relationship in order for us to thrive. How we feel about ourselves and how we view the world affects the quality of our relationships. When we can balance a positive identity with our role in the world while also remaining connected to others, we feel whole. Brokenness can occur if any of these relationships are out of balance. In therapy, I help my clients assess the lack of balance so they can figure out how to get whole again.

I have considerable experience and expertise working with parents, children, adolescents and families in crisis that may have specific issues related to separated/divorced parents, adoptive, foster and blended families. I especially enjoy collaborating with parents to bring out the best in their children and the parent-child relationship. In addition, I provide couples and individual counseling for those dealing with communication difficulties, anger management issues, loss, trauma, abuse, developmental issues and those with chronic psychiatric conditions.

I have an optimistic perspective in life. I am non-judgmental, caring, authentic and always present in interactions. I believe that we cannot control everything however what we can control is our reaction to events. I have worked with clients that are needing support to reach goals, gain confidence, self-esteem and are wanting to have better understanding of their strengths. I believe in the field and view clients from a humanistic frame. My thought process is everyone is doing their best and I am helpful in aiding clients to put things in perspective.

I prefer to take a practical approach to my work and after an initial consultation, I gather a thorough history. I involve patients in the development of a treatment plan in which together, we identify the issues to be addressed, therapeutic goals, and strategies that might be helpful. The therapeutic process can then begin and function within this framework. As a collaborative effort, I find therapy is most successful when the therapist and patient participate equally. My style is to be very interactive and involved, unlike the image that most people have of psychotherapists who simply sit back and listen.
