First off, I think it's funny that I'm even a "psychotherapist". I reluctantly started going to counseling myself in college. Surprisingly, it changed my life for the better. I never would have guessed it! It was so beneficial, I ended up getting a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy...not necessarily as a career choice, but simply to continue my personal learning and growth. I've worked in several other career fields, but no other job has even come close to matching the satisfaction I get from helping people find freedom after experiencing some of their darkest times. Now it has become my passion!

As a marriage and family therapist, my hope is to help each couple and family to overcome the unique struggles that they face. I want to help everyone recognize and appreciate the valuable qualities that each person contributes to the relationship. Also, for them to understand how their differences can be the building block in becoming a foundation of comfort, strength, and peace. I share these same aspirations for my individual clients as well, so they can reach their personal, relational, and life ambitions through achieving mental health and wellbeing.

I’ve been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for the past 17 years and have worked in many different types of community services such as Geropsych, Hospice, Inpatient Psych and now working with Domestic Violence survivors and their alleged offenders - adults and children through the military. I’m also trained as a Forensic Child Interviewer. I’m well versed in personality disorders and mood disorders, along with aging and marital issues. I am licensed in Arkansas (private pay and some insurances), North Dakota and Nevada.

Life isn't always easy and our expectations are often different than we imagined. I help couples, pre-marital couples & individuals in many of these life circumstances, such as infidelity, trauma, depression, anxiety, also feeling like you are not good enough, not worthy. Kayla has her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and believes in utilizing a systemic approach when working with clients. Since 2018, she has worked as a licensed counselor. During this time she has worked with adolescents and families at a residential treatment center. Kayla also has specialized training in trauma therapy and attachment therapy and enjoys applying it to her work with all types of clients.

What I enjoy the most about being a therapist is helping people discover hope and an empowering belief in themselves. As a Licensed Professional Counselor I have experience in a variety of therapeutic settings including both outpatient and residential where I have helped people of all ages work through personal difficulties that are keeping them from developing their full potential. She received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta. While in her Masters program, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Christian Sex Therapy. She is currently pursuing additional licensure through the American Board of Christian Sex Therapy (ABCST), is EMDR trained, and has over 120 hours of certified trauma training.

As a therapist, I enjoy helping people change thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that impact their daily life. It is my goal to help clients understand emotions or circumstances, and implement change so that they can see their desired results. Individuals and families will be provided a safe space to discuss concerns openly, and find creative ways to change.
