Brooks & Hurst Counseling provides mental health counseling services to a wide range of people in the Calhoun County area. We offer Infant & Early Childhood counseling, Individual, Couples, and Family Counseling. Our counselors are knowledgeable and passionate. We accept private pay, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Alabama Children's Medicaid, and other various private insurances.

I work with children, adolescence and adults in individual or family counseling. My desire is to give each client a safe place to call his / her own. I am a practicing LPC-S in the Huntsville, AL area specializing in helping adolescents and adults struggling with OCD, substance abuse/addiction issues, behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, and ADD/ADHD. I have additional experience with marriage and family counseling. I am a licensing supervisor (SC-03282), currently accepting individuals working toward their LPC.

Although I work well with clients across the broad spectrum of needs, I prefer working with couples who are experiencing marital, relationship and family difficulties. I also work with clients experiencing domestic violence, grief and PTSD. I come armed with 34 years of experience that allows me to help clients work on the ongoing development of the self including their internal strength; becoming less dependent on others for validation. I also work with an acute focus on intercultural difficulties.

I am an individual and family therapist with over 30 years of experience in the field. I work with adults experiencing problems with depression, anxiety, marital and relationship issues, eating disorders, sexual abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. I utilize integrative therapies that emphasize cognitive behavioral methods and mindfulness strategies. My mission is to assist individuals in gaining insight about pains of the past, develop clearer views of these problems and learn to incorporate more effective coping skills that lead to a healthier and more balanced life.
