I am a trauma informed, EMDR trained, & a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional therapist. I enjoy incorporating games and art therapy in sessions. I am passionate to help people move through emotional/spiritual obstacles so they can live rich lives interpersonally and contribute to their community. A warm, empathetic relationship between a counselor and client provides the context where growth and change can take place. I utilize Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused, and Play Therapy approaches.

I began my professional counseling experience in 1999. I have worked previously as a professional counselor with juvenile incarcerated youth, incarcerated adults, psychiatric patients, as an elementary and secondary school counselor. Prior to my work as a professional counselor, I worked as a special education teacher and coach. I have experience working with young children, adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, families, and groups. I have worked with a diverse clientele on a number of concerns, with specializations in the following areas: anger management, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, pre-marital, parenting, divorce, domestic violence, social skills, etc.

“You are the expert on you.” This is a statement that I love sharing with my clients because I feel it emphasizes that you are the most important part of this relationship. Therapy is an opportunity to grow and explore oneself and I feel that the relationship between a client and therapist is of the utmost importance. I hold this relationship in high regard and look forward to walking along side you during this journey. I specialize in trauma counseling and marriage counseling. My goal in therapy is not just symptom reduction but liberation from suffering.

As humans, we all experience pain. The source of your pain may look similar or different from others, but it is unique to you. Often we are overwhelmed by our circumstances and desire relief. Sometimes our pain manifests as anxiety, depression, marital conflict, grief or identity crisis. Whatever your circumstance or however deep your pain, I believe it is important to have a safe, non-judgmental and neutral place to share your story and seek healing. My desire is to see each of us being functional and purposeful members of society even in the midst of struggles.

Counseling has been Jillissa's passion for years. She specializes in, but is not limited to, issues including: marriage and family, relationship dynamics, boundary issues, adolescent and children's issues, and woman's issues such as eating disorders, depression, anger, anxiety, divorce care, singleness, grief, bitterness, identity and significance issues and mood disorders. She also works with clients struggling with anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Adjustment Disorders. Jillissa's philosophy of counseling is the integration of Christianity and psychology, and her counseling methods include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Psychoeducation, and Child Play Therapy.

With 12 years of experience working with clients going through individual, relationship, and family issues, Celebrity Therapist Dr. Jeff Rocker has provided therapeutic services to clients nationwide. He is Licensed in 14 states and has served clients from all age groups. Over the years, Dr. Jeff has organized lectures and various events in the community, including excursions and retreats for couples to improve their communication and better understand each other. He has experience working with athletes in the NFL, NBA, and MLB. In addition, Dr. Jeff has also worked with clients in the Movie, Music, and Entertainment Industries.
