As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I especially enjoy working with children, teens, and couples facing a variety of issues. Life is a journey in which change is often the only constant. My job is to honor the journey you are on, and provide avenues for healing and hope both for you and your family. I believe that by working with individuals and families, healing and relational satisfaction can take place and change in relationships can occur.

Life can be challenging, and I am here to walk beside you and your family in this journey. If you are feeling overwhelmed, lost, or experiencing struggles due to trauma to everyday stressors to parenting questions, I am here to help. I have worked with children, families and individuals who present with various needs ranging from struggles with life transitions to trauma. Having witnessed the calm and strength that can come from change, I am dedicated to helping my clients work toward their goals.

I am passionate about working with people of all ages. My youngest client is 3 & my oldest is 80 years old. I treat adults, couples, co-parents, families, young adults, teens, tweens, & children. As a clinically licensed counselor, I treat a variety of mental health & family issues. I studied 2 yrs post masters to become an RPT (registered play therapist specializing in working with children) and an SATP-C (sexual addictions treatment provider - certified). I am passionate about working with people who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, attachment issues, high conflict family work due to divorce, etc.

My passion is families, the building block upon which society is built. By healing families, we heal the world. I specialize in couples therapy, which improves not only the couple but the entire family as a result. I specialize in working with teenagers, helping them with depression, social anxiety, and life coaching. I specialize in treating trauma, a taxing burden that no one should have to carry through life, a burden that sadly so often goes untreated.

Depression, anxiety, stress, addiction, trauma; so many people are silently suffering and in need of hope and help. My passion is to help the silent sufferers by providing a safe space to process what life has thrown at you and help guide you on a path to healing. I believe that the client is the expert of themself and my role is to aid clients on the path to wellbeing.

I have over 23 years of experience working with individuals and families to assist with mental health in community mental health providing counseling services. I am passionate about providing a therapeutic environment that is validating, caring, and non-judgmental and focus on positive change. I have over 10 years experience teaching DBT skills individually and in group setting. I have provided clinical supervision to assist individuals with getting LSCSW.

I believe that life is about one simple thing: connections. This belief inspired the name of Connections Counseling, LLC. When we feel connected (to our true selves, intimate relationships, family, friends, career, a purpose larger than us, etc.), we tend to have positive mental well being. I believe I can aid you, no matter what mental ailments you may feel, in connecting to broken or missing attachments and obtaining a new sense of mental health through this process.

Hello! I'm Vanessa, co-owner of Secure Counseling Clinics. I've lived in KC for 20 years with my husband, 4 children, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 bearded dragon, and a flock of backyard chickens! I'm a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in both MO and KS, Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and KS board-approved clinical supervisor. My heart work is helping humans with complex trauma. Couples, as well as parents and their children, work with me to form secure attachments with each other. I help clients experiencing relationship difficulties and those who experience pain from circumstances or losses.
