Without exception, all people want contentment and happiness, yet often it is elusive. Yet, there really is a roadmap to peace and harmony---and it can be taught! Conflict can be replaced with curiosity. Compassion can replace judgement. Open-heartedness can overcome disappointment. My strength is in being a guide for people who want to grow into the person they were meant to be. By attending to our minds our bodies and our spirits---in addition to having healthy relationships we can create vitality---whethere we're single or married. Teaching all people the exquisite art of connection is my passion.

I’m committed to providing my full attention and support in helping people work toward positive changes that align with their own values and goals. I work with adults and adolescents, and I take an eclectic and holistic approach to help with concerns that may include mental health, stress, trauma, grief, addiction, relationships, or adjusting to life changes. This may be a matter of short-term counseling to strengthen coping skills or overcome a specific challenge, or more in-depth therapy to better understand and resolve deeper patterns and issues.

Hello! It's so nice to meet you! I know reaching out for help is not easy and I want to applaud your strength in beginning this journey. My practice is solely online! What does this mean for you? No commute, No parking, and no awkward waiting rooms. We meet via a secure HIPAA compliant connection either through video, audio, chat or direct messaging. I have been practicing in the online format for many years and see how revolutionary it is to counseling. Sometimes life gets messy and we get a little off track. It is in these moments that I find my greatest reward as a therapist by empowering others to find peace in the chaos.

We learn how to see, value and trust ourselves and others based on how our caregivers saw, valued and were honest with us. When that relationship has been broken in any way, we develop an attachment wound. This break could have come in many forms, neglect, abuse, emotional and physical absence or inconsistent nurturing. As adults we act out our wounds in our daily lives. This leads to an inability to form healthy, connected and valuable relationships with ourselves and others. The impact of this is depression, anxiety, personality issues, trauma responses and a myriad of other issues.

I'm a licensed social worker with over 20 years of experience working with a variety of populations in different settings. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process with the client being the expert on his/her own life and the therapist being a resource to help overcome difficulties on life's journey. Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
