I am a licensed mental health counselor and licensed marriage and therapy therapist. I have counseled individuals and couples for 40 years. I bring a great depth and breadth of expertise to my work and a practical approach. I help clients learn about themselves and practice radical self-acceptance. I received a Ph.D. in Psychology at Saybrook Institute in San Francisco and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology at Antioch New England University. I wrote Relationship Transformation: How to Have Your Cake and Eat It Too with my wife, Mary Ellen.

I especially love helping teens/ young adults (and their parents) with developing their independence. I'm excited to help individuals and families enjoy their lives more either by improving relationships, better managing their stage of life tasks, and also while dealing with difficult problems including Relationship/ Marital issues, Family Conflicts, Affairs, Sex addiction, Co-parenting, "Growing Up" issues, Adjusting to Divorce, Gay & Lesbian & Gender (Transgender) issues, Substance Abuse, Grief, Violence and Anger Management including Probation & Diversion involvement.

I am a licensed Dual diagnosis therapist who has over 12 years of experience in treating individuals ages 11-65 suffering from past, present, or a loved one's issues of addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders such as substance Abuse, Sexual Addiction, Gambling, Depression, PTSD, ADHD, and Anxiety. I operate using a strengths based framework, and strive to help clients achieve self love. My clients find that they greatly increase practical coping skills and are better able to understand and manage triggers. I have been working with children and their families for the past 10 years. I specialize in working with children with one or more mental health diagnoses, such as ASD, anxiety, depression, or mood disorders, as well as helping their parents/guardians or family members with how to best care for their child. I aim to work collaboratively with families, schools, and other providers in order to instill change.
