About
I hold space for people who have experienced race-based trauma, gender-based trauma, and childhood trauma. If you have experienced a trauma, then something extremely stressful has caused a deep physical, emotional, or spiritual wound. No two people will experience trauma exactly in the same way, but your body will tell you something traumatic has happened. Trauma can wake you up at night and high-jack our thoughts. Trauma can keep you stuck in a state of fear or anger. Together, we will explore methods for grounding your body, reconnect with a sense of safety, and reduce the emotional charge of the trauma memory in your body.
I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a trauma-focused therapy designed to help process painful memories. I also work through a feminist lens, which understands the traumatic impact of institutional and interpersonal racism, sexism, heterosexism, and cissexism. I am relational, and prioritize the connection between us.
As a feminist therapist, I believe that our relationship is the most important factor in therapy. My hope is that through time, we can build a trusting connection where you have a sense of safety, as well as feel my respect for you. I also trust that you will know in your gut what makes a supportive therapeutic experience for you.
