My clients are often high-achievers - the “good” person/student, the one who is always there for others, who is always “fine” and doesn’t seem to have any problems - but that’s not how they feel. On the inside, they are hurting deeply. They push down their own feelings and needs resulting in things like numbness, anxiety, depression, and being self-silenced. They may even develop addictive or self-destructive behaviors to try to feel a sense of control. They find putting words to emotions and communicating feelings and needs to others can be difficult or even seem impossible.
I am a board-certified Music Therapist and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. “Feel it, Face it, Freedom!” is Get In Tune’s motto. Music is one of the most effective ways for people to connect - it can work as a bridge between emotions and communication with ourselves and others.
