About
Are you looking for a place where you can change, grow, be understood, resolve problems, and be more in the flow of your life? What I can offer you as a therapist is deep listening, genuine understanding, and a place where you can begin to solve problems and change patterns. My approach is holistic, and I believe that individuals can achieve their goals and desires when they're in an accepting and safe environment. I respect every person's strengths and his or her ability to learn, heal and grow, despite the problems they're presenting in therapy.
With my background in marriage and family therapy, I'm attuned to people's contexts and the interpersonal relationships that shape and influence them. Whether I'm counseling individuals, couples or families, I believe it's important to understand the positive or negative influences of the person's environment.
I have many years of experience in private practice, working with depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, eating disorders, sexual issues, and childhood abuse. I counsel individuals couples and families and use a variety of techniques in the therapeutic process including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, IADC, Focusing, and mindfulness.

The Art Room
The Art Room is an art studio within my office space that is set up to provide open studio hours and classes for people with mental health problems to create art. The purpose of The Art Room is to promote emotional and psychological health and healing through art. We do not provide art therapy per se, but the time and space, materials and guidance to create art, which is itself therapeutic. We believe creating art is medicine. The Art Room is nonprofit and free to individuals referred to the program from mental health professionals or agencies. url, theartroomdenton.org
