I am newly licensed but life experienced. I have been married for over thirty years and have one adult daughter and two grandchildren. I was an officer in the US Merchant Marines until 1996, and I have owned and operated a Farmers Insurance and Financial Services Agency for the past twenty-six years. I have been involved in coaching male and female athletes of all ages in baseball, basketball, soccer, and fast pitch. My interest in becoming a therapist grew out of this sports and business background. Assisting others to identify their strengths and weakness, and to empower themselves, has evolved into my next career.
I have a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from Capella University. I work with adults teaching parenting and life coping skills, and with adolescents helping them develop perspectives and skills leading to successful entry into adulthood. I also enjoy helping families and couples with issues that are causing stress and conflict.
I view therapy as a working relationship in which rapport, trust, and cooperation are central. I am eclectic in approach meaning that I fit my treatment plans to the unique needs and situation of each client. I am practical and like to set clear goals and use strategies which have a proven track record of success.
