The highest priority of NYC Cognitive Behavioral, is to improve the quality of life. We encourage our patients not to avoid times of challenge and distress but to utilize them as opportunities for re-prioritizing, transformation and personal growth. We are committed to helping each of our patients to identify what a purposeful life means to them and to mutually working through whatever obstacles may interfere with living that life. The center continually incorporates the most up to date research and training on evidence based psychotherapy. The gold standard for scientifically based therapy is CBT.
CBT is the most thoroughly researched and recommended type of psychotherapy for depression, anxiety disorders, and a wide range of other psychological and relationship problems. We incorporate "third generation CBT”, e.g, acceptance & mindfulness therapies (ACT). We are certified by Academy of Cognitive Therapy and are peer reviewed ACT trainers.
Acceptance&Commitment-Therapy (ACT) : ACT more fully explores the role of acceptance in our emotional lives. ACT explores what happens when we try too hard to control our thoughts or inner emotions and instead focuses on mindfully opening up to experience while choosing to act on our values.
