I believe that therapy helps people learn new skills and uncover strengths that allow an individual or family to deal with challenges that arise in life. Therapy is not a quick fix but rather a tool to access inner and outer resources to deal with the ups and downs of life. My goal as a therapist is to help identify and process barriers, develop communication, relational, and coping skills to live functional and wholesome lives.
As a clinician with a background in social work and psychology, I provide psychotherapy based on principles of attachment, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness. I have experience working with foster/adoptive children and families, children in group care, and children with behavioral and social/emotional issues within the school system.
For therapy to be useful, there needs to be a trusting relationship between the therapist and the person seeking therapy. I look forward to building those relationships and work with people who have a willingness to look within while, as a therapist, I will do my best to lead, guide, validate, and encourage you through that process.
