I'm motivated to help people get past their pain and become who they were meant to be. Doing this requires trust, curiosity, careful listening, thoughtful feedback, and a commitment to what is most alive in you. The reward for me is that I get to be present when the next, better, freer and more flexible version of you comes into the world. It's exciting, meaningful work.
Unprocessed trauma shows up in unexpected places: as anxiety, depression, procrastination, and physical symptoms. I'm interested in the big and small stressors that accumulate over time, and the adaptations that we develop to manage them. Trauma-oriented treatment provides new ways to resolve these symptoms, creating an opportunity for permanent change.
Ultimately, I believe that the kind of therapy you choose matters less than how you feel with your therapist. It's change within the context of relationship that heals. So talk to several therapists and go with your gut feeling. I always try to take a consultative, no-pressure approach: if I can't help you, I'll try to refer you to someone who can.
