About
Anxiety, depression, insecurity, low self-esteem, intrusive thoughts, relationship challenges at work, school, or home, shame: these problems can be understood and often overcome through therapy. I provide Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to individuals and couples and help others gain insight into maladaptive patterns of thinking and acting through mutual inquiry and authentic engagement. I specialize in treating depression and anxiety. My style is direct and compassionate.
My approach aims to meet the unique set of concerns a person brings to treatment. Because of my extensive background in the liberal arts, I've had the opportunity to work with many artists, writers, and teachers. In practice, I incorporate the fine arts and humanities to develop personal narratives and enlarge meaning.
I received my Doctorate in the Humanities from The City University of New York. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Maine and co-owner of New England Counseling, located in the heart of the Old Port in Portland.
