Many of the people who reach out to me for therapy describe themselves as disheartened and distressed with some major part of their lives. Some feel sadly disconnected in their intimate relationship with a primary partner or spouse. Others feel they can't find a way to communicate and connect with a parent, child or sibling. Other people want relief from feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed by stress. For couples, I specialize in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. I help partners discover their problems are not each other. What's likely driving them apart is a negative cycle of behaviors and reactions. Transforming that cycle will help positively influence every aspect of relationship from negotiating finances to sexual intimacy.
I embrace working with individuals and partners from traditional, straight, poly, CNM and queer lifestyles. My style is relational, engaged, compassionate, practical and curious. Clinically, I am guided by Emotionally Focused Therapy which is an attachment base therapy, EMDR, which is a trauma treatment therapy and Somatic body centered therapies.
