There is a misconception that therapy is unidirectional, a place to seek advice or vent to a therapist. It is important for the client to be informed, valued, and understood by the therapist. Although therapy is not a, “quick fix” I have been told by many clients that they feel some improvement after the first 1-2 sessions. Usually, they report this shift as a sense of relief that they have finally made the first step to talk to someone.
