People tell me that I'm easy to talk to, and I never tire of hearing your story. I have a long, strong background working with people of all ages who are struggling with a range of issues. For over three decades (and across three states) I have helped people through difficult changes in health and/or life circumstances, as well as those battling depression, anxiety, and the gamut of psychological maladies. I am a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist (meaning rigorous and advanced training), I enjoy working with a large variety of people, and I am always interested in getting to know them and their unique selves.

I am a psychotherapist with 30 years experience working with adults, couples and families. I have run groups for men and women who struggled with relationship issues helping them communicate more openly and honestly. I have always been able to provide a safe, respectful environment allowing clients to feel comfortable sharing their concerns, fears and hopes for the future. Developing rapport and trust are a must in any successful relationship; this is especially true in therapy. At the end of our first session you will know you are in competent and caring hands making it easier to discuss difficult issues openly and honestly.

I work across the age-span, from young children in play therapy, teenagers planning for graduation, college students grasping to stay focused, young women adjusting to motherhood, and older adults seeking more peace in their lives. I am curious about people’s perspectives and how we can shift our thoughts to feel better. I aim to be a supportive guide, with clear communication and professional boundaries. I enjoy helping other people to become assertive. I have worked with many trauma survivors.

I help people who are hurting and grieving. It may be a divorce or loss of a job or the death of a beloved animal companion (or many others) that hurt you. I specialize in grief and will help you come back to the real you.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Chicago. In addition to my education, I have led divorce recovery groups, helping many people work through their pain. Some of the other groups I have led include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Grief, Social Skills and Single Mothers. I have worked in the corporate world for over a decade. James Ogle, LCSW, is a highly skilled therapist who works with adolescents, families, and couples. He has over 15 years of clinical work experience in various settings. James has a gift of being able to quickly identify effective behavioral strategies that resolve problems for adolescents in trouble, couples in conflict, and those struggling with depression, anxiety, and stress. James uses motivational therapies to help people with addictions, substance use problems, and anger management issues implement behavior change in order to stop struggling and get their lives back on track.

I began my professional career as a lawyer. Studying and practicing in the field of law helped me develop critical thinking skills and an understanding of how to navigate the practical challenges of life. However, working as a lawyer made me realize I wanted to help people on a more personal, emotional, and psychological level so they could be effective before they need a lawyer. So, at the age of 29, I quit my job as a family law attorney and went back to school to get a Ph.D. in Psychology. As a lifetime student, I am dedicated to learning.
