In the field of social work for 44 years, I specialize in working individually with LGBTQ+ young people. While acquiring deeper insight into what makes you tick, putting that knowledge to work is key. Setting realistic, attainable goals is an indispensable part of the process. Psychoanalytic and relational theories inform my work, and I view the therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of treatment.
My six books include: "Out of the Twilight: Fathers of Gay Men Speak" (2000); "Sons Talk About Their Gay Fathers: Life Curves" (2003); "Side by Side: On Having a Gay or Lesbian Sibling" (2005); "Interventions with Families of GLBT People: From the Inside Out" (2006); "On the Meaning of Friendship Between Gay Men" (2008) (Routledge Press); and
Families in Transition: Parenting Gender Diverse Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults (with co-editor Arlene I Lev ) (2019) (Columbia University Press).
