My name is Marirose Occhiogrosso, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. For over 20 years, I have provided therapy for diverse groups of people with Eating Disorders, Anxiety and Depressive Disorders, Trauma, Grief, and various stressors. My approach is to focus on positive action, skill building, and effective communication. People do their best to survive. My approach is to validate clients and help them understand that what they've learned, how they are built, the resources they have, and the cultural and familial pressures they've experienced have influenced them for better or worse.
Therapy can help clients make conscious choices instead of repeating the past. I use a multi-focal lens of developmental, psychodynamic, behavioral, and humanistic theoretical perspectives to enhance our work together.
I became a therapist because mental health struggles can feel daunting and sometimes shameful, and I understand how to persist with clients under these circumstances. From a young age, it has been a calling to help others see and use their strengths, to build a life worth living, and to find community, purpose, and joy.
