About
(I'm available for Psychotherapy and BBS-authorized ASW supervision--sliding scale.) Statement: Our cultural institutions do not prepare us for a diverse, changing world. We are led to believe one set of rules will carry us to success, when flexibility and adaptiveness are really the keys. Inability to adapt in the work place and social endeavors can lead to self-criticism, anxiety, depression, and/or anger. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is effective in symptom reduction, but it is not engineered to handle broader questions of identity, self-understanding and purpose. My aim is to explore your narrative and make it more engaging.
In addition to a therapy practice, I offer BBS-authorized supervision to Associate Clinical Social Workers, licensed social workers on BBS probation, and to any therapist wishing to explore new avenues.
I am not a scolding teacher who believes there are right and wrong ways to think, behave, and feel. Many people who come to therapy expect that, and they become uncomfortable when they are not held responsible for their "problems." People are culturally conditioned to believe hard work can solve any problem. Unfortunately, it just leads to more self-blame.
