I am a licensed psychologist and health service provider in private practice and work with individuals, couples, groups, and families. I specialize in grief, traumatic experience, anxiety, depression, interpersonal problems, and also enjoy working with issues of creativity and optimal self development over the lifespan. I practice from an integrative perspective that includes psychoanalytic, humanistic, and experiential approaches. My book, The Paradox of Loss: Toward a Relational Theory of Grief, describes my nonlinear, non-pathologizing, and relational understanding of grief. I am offering four groups this coming year: Recent Bereavement; Longer-Term Grief; Creative Writing and Loss; and Enhancing Communication and Connection for Improved Functioning.
My work especially focuses on: emotional concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, both long-lasting and acute; traumatic experience relating to death, loss, abuse and its aftermath; creativity and self development; communication, adjustment, and coping with life transitions.

For individuals who have lost an intimate other over the span of years and would like to participate in a group process of exploration and connection. Group, meeting once weekly for 1 hr. and 15 mins., will have up to 8 participants, and will run for 12 weeks. Another group offered is for recently bereaved individuals experiencing acute grief. A 12-week group for individuals who wish to use creative writing in working with loss and grief. Format will include both guided exercises and dynamic interpersonal processing of material. Cost will be $50/meeting, 1 1/2 hours per week, and groups will have up to 7 individuals.

The overall focus is the development of effective communication and connection in order to improve personal and relational functioning and well-being.
