We come by our struggles honestly. Sometimes we need help in how we cope with and relate to ourselves, others, and our circumstances. Turning to family and friends might not be possible or enough. Psychotherapy provides a respectful invitation to address concerns and goals, and to collaborate on a path forward. My approach draws from an understanding of skill building, attachment, interpersonal, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed factors if/as needed. Depending on goals, therapy can be short to longer-term. My clients have been among my most inspirational teachers on courage, resiliency, and creative problem-solving.
We'll discuss what can be reasonably accomplished within any constraint ( time, finances) you might be facing . No one psychologist or approach is right for everyone. If we discover that I'm not the best fit for you or don't have the expertise for a problem you're experiencing, we'll discuss options/resources that could better provide what you need.
I began providing therapy in 1986 with my Master's Degree. I returned to school to earn my Doctoral degree, and provided therapy up through and since earning that degree in 1996. I've worked in different settings that include community mental health and university counseling centers. I've worked the longest in full time private practice.
