Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) are conditions that can arise from a traumatic event or prolonged/repeated trauma. After a traumatic event you might have feelings of terror, shame or guilt. You may experience intense emotional reactions or even numbness, and engage in unhealthy relationships and self destructive behavior. You may feel persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, worthlessness, and anxiety. Often, with cPTSD, you may have complicated feelings about the person who inflicted the trauma. Your trauma can also manifest itself in physical pains or phobias.

I help people with cPTSD by using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR provides relief from the negative effects of trauma using a scientifically proven approach that relieves trauma symptoms quicker than traditional talk therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in conjunction with EMDR helps provide lasting relief.
