Maria has over 20 years of experience working with individuals and families in both English and Spanish. She is experienced in helping with acute and complex trauma, anxiety, identity issues, body image issues, depression, ADHD, and all types of addictions. She has a special affinity for working with teens and young adults, but has clients of all ages. She works alongside her emotional support dog, Sully, who accompanies her to in-person sessions. For those who wish, she incorporates art and creative processes into therapy. She prefers in person, but is open to Telehealth. She works both in the Columbia River Gorge and Portland.
Maria is a person-centered and strength-based therapist. She blends several types of therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of the client. She combines parts work, talk therapy (psychotherapy), exposure therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, somatic practices, art therapy, and DBT. Además María habla español.
Maria doesn’t believe therapy is just “two chairs in a room,” and has had clients who prefer therapy sessions outside or in other locations that would make sense to the therapeutic work. In her spare time, Maria likes to travel to Latin America, be outdoors in the Columbia River Gorge, take photos, and work in her vegetable garden.
