A guiding principle in my work is the belief that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is of the utmost importance. Neuroscientific literature supports the curative powers of deep empathic attunement (limbic resonance) and the brain/body's ability to heal. As such, in addition to attending to you with the same level of respectful presence that I would expect in a therapist, I use both cognitive/emotional and body/mind tools to assist you in your healing. I am certified in both Safe and Sound Protocol ( SSP) as well as a certified +Heart Math provider. I think you will find me warm, genuine, empathic, and knowledgeable.
My work is influenced by relational/attachment, cognitive-behavioral, body/mind theories ( e.g. Polyvagal ) and aspects of psychodynamic theory, IFS, and ACT. I am flexible and open to hearing what works for you. Areas of interest include past childhood abuse/trauma, mood /anxiety disorders, sexual orientation issues, and work/school/relationship stress.
I am very open to discussion of spiritual, existential and philosophical concerns or beliefs regardless of orientation. I am particular interested in the integration of psychological and philosophical/spiritual concepts in healing psychological issues as well as managing everyday stressors. I also generally work well with college students /emerging adults.
