Maria Bowen
Pre-Licensed Professional, MA, R-DMT
I believe that health and healing is about having more options in how we respond to life and meet our innate needs. I work with children, teens, and adults from a variety of backgrounds to support developing those options. My approach is body/movement centered and client focused. I am committed to meeting your body where it is, and creating a body positive environment inclusive of size, shape, and ability. I apply an anti-oppressive lens to my work, which includes an understanding that systemic oppression and social conditions affect our relationships. I work within a sex positive, anti-racist, queer and trans positive framework.
I come from a respectful/mindful parenting philosophy, which is rooted in evidence-based development. All of my work is through a trauma informed lens. My work with parents/primary caregivers can be in relationship to my work with their children, or directly with the parents/primary caregivers themselves. I now offer BRAINSPOTTING.
I am excited to work with anyone who feels drawn to my particular approach and framework. If you have any questions about what you've read here, please be in touch. I would be happy to speak with you more about my practice and my approach to therapy. As a pre-licensed counselor I work under the supervision of a LCMHC with 20+ years experience.
