Methods of surviving trauma/abuse become symptoms; anxiety, depression, dissociation, somatic symptoms and hypervigilance, and can become distressing when no longer utilized for survival. They can also manifest as people pleasing, unhealthy relationships, difficulty trusting others, setting boundaries, shame and avoidance. I am here to hold space for you and your healing.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR Practitioner. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents impacted by trauma/abuse. At Irimiya, we work closely with Trauma and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). Additionally, we specialize in Sexual Trauma (childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual harassment, etc.).
Together in therapy, we will “do the work” and the biggest part of “doing the work” is re-learning self trust, boundaries and self love. I am here to affirm those feelings of wanting to be heard, loved and supported and decrease the feelings of self blame, guilt and shame. I am here to walk with you on this imperfect path.
