I utilize a humanistic, collaborative and solution focused counseling approach with clients, involving actively listening to their life narrative, and exploring how it may be preventing them from reaching desired goals. In sessions, with a questioning and curious mind, we explore and dialogue on how the client may perceive things differently in their therapeutic process. Throughout, I provide support, empowering them to take responsibility in making healthy adjustments in their life. It is through the client learning the importance of self-respect, self-compassion,confidence, and humor, that they find themselves living a more wholesome, healthy, and transformed life.
I take continual training in issues of grief and bereavement for all ages, and have both individual and group grief counseling sessions for adolescents and adults across the life span. I have an understanding of individuals, 50 and older, and have specific training in couples counseling for all life stages.
Unique to a client's need, I may implement genograms, family sculpting, narrative therapy, journaling, dreamwork, relaxation techniques, mindfulness and art. I utilize a collaborative approach, working with the client's vision in co-creating harmony; shifting perceptions, instituting healthy boundaries, and improving healthy functioning of the individual/couple/family.

"Grieving Mindfully: Understanding Your Grief"

This is a 90-minute, 12-week "companioning" therapeutic and psycho-educational group for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. It includes 2 required books, "Understanding Your Grief" and "Understanding Your Grief Journal" by Alan D. Wofelt, Ph.D.. These books provide weekly readings and reflective questions for response. To honor and respect attendees, the group is closed on the start date. Attendees commit to weekly attendance, understanding the importance of their presence in the group processing and its capacity to assist them in integrating their loved ones' death into the fabric of their life.

An 8-week, 90 minute program for adolescents, 13-17 years of age, that includes art, reading and creative activities, addressing death of a loved one so the death can be fully integrated into the life of the child's family history.
