Hi! My name is Margarita Yuri Medina, Ph.D. (c), LPC-S. My approach is humanistic. CBT, DBT, ACT, Play Therapy, and Art Therapy are used in all counseling and psychology schools. Focus areas of practice are mood disorders, ADHD, relationship issues, adjustment disorders, anger management, parenting, abuse, and trauma. The age range is from 5 to mature adults. Clients that work with me usually want to see some change in their life or in their children's lives. The conditions that I treat are mood disorders, ADHD, relationship issues, adjustment disorders, anger management, parenting, abuse, and trauma.
The approach I used is Humanistic: Existential phenomenological. Existential phenomenology was once described to me as a "Person-Centered on steroids." My client is the driver of therapy. I provide support, guidance, and tools to help the client reach their goals.
I decided that I wanted to be a therapist when I was 19 years old. This has been my only career. The main motivator was to be and have a healthy family. The client decides what they want to see differently in their lives. I may assist with helping them make their goals more concrete and what steps to take.
