My approach to therapy is authentic, warm, strengths-based, and collaborative. I try to be an active participant in the therapy room and will be direct as appropriate. As a practitioner, I believe that the patient is the expert on their own life and view therapy as an opportunity for the patient to collect a myriad of tools with which they can heal themselves.
I typically like to incorporate psychodynamic therapy, ACT, EMDR and mindfulness in working with adults with Autism, Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment Disorder, ADHD and other mood disorders. I'm also a certified rehabilitation counselor and specialize in working with individuals as they adjust to life with a disability or chronic illness.
I believe the therapeutic alliance is where healing starts and I'm committed to showing up as my authentic self during each session and believe humor and sarcasm have healing powers. I strive to work with patients who are motivated to be active participants and are open to new ideas and techniques.
