I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in the DFW area in Texas. I remember one of my mentors who said (while I was in training/practice): "You can learn all the approaches, but if you are not skilled in listening, it will not be helpful for anyone". My main approach is the Client-Centered and humanistic approach, with unconditional support, acceptance, and empathic listening.
After the door is opened and the bounding is good I like to work on motivational aspects, improve misconceptions, some traumas, anxiety issues, depressive symptoms, the meaning of life, faith-based therapy, and helping people to thrive as individuals, couples, or family.
I am able to work with kids, teenagers, and young adults, but honestly, I do not have a preferred population. I just love to see people making progress. My tone of voice is mostly calm, using active listening in a non-judgmental way.
