Nothing is more important or challenging than parenting. I offer help and hope as a parent coach for support and direction in enhancing your skills, or the deeper assistance of therapy for trauma-affected children. I help to clarify trauma's developmental impact and effect on the danger response system, attachment, self-regulation, and competency. I encourage attachment by helping you and your child with attunement, attentiveness, emotion control, consistency, and using routines and rituals. I help parents understand and deal with extreme behaviors, such as lying, stealing, food-hoarding, self-mutilation, and aggression.
As parent coach, I help parents to determine what works, and to set, prioritize, and realize goals. I offer communication tools, and positive, respectful discipline techniques that increase follow through, responsibility, and respect, and decrease whining, attitude, power struggles, sibling conflicts, chore wars, and morning/bedtime/homework hassles.
I raised 6 children, including three that I fostered/adopted, one of whom has Special Needs, giving me personal experience in related issues. I completed my Master's of Professional Counseling 9/2013, and am currently under supervision toward becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

Positive Discipline
A seven-session class on discipline techniques for children 0-18. Common sense solutions for whining, attitude, chore wars, power struggles, lack of follow-through, morning & evening routines, homework, and sibling conflict. Teaches long-term parenting skills encouraging children in responsibility, thinking for themselves, and having greater respect for themselves and others, bringing joy and a sense of accomplishment by getting to the core of misbehavior. Utilizes non-punitive, respectful methods, incorporating both kindness and firmness. Appropriate for anyone working with children: parents, grandparents, child-care workers, teachers.
