Substances, anxiety, and depression can make a persons quality of life diifficult to mange I work to develop a counselor client relationship to make sure that this is a good fit for you. This trust is the foundation of a good counselor-client relationship making it more easier to identify the difficult emotions and excess substance use happening in your life. In addition, when someone decreases substances it can trigger co-occurring disorders (anxiety, depression, ptsd). Behavioral changes are an extreme challenge so getting as much support as possible helps improve the outcomes.
First goal will be to address addiction as a disease and using all resources to help battle rather than blaming yourself for being inadequate. I use stress reduction, mindfulness, CBT, motivation enhancement to address emotions that a person finds difficult. I provided integrated treament to address substance and co occurring disorders.
I will work with you to identify continous thoughts and cravings, intrusive thinking, and negative thoughts as well. Cognitive distortions or negative thoughts can be replaced with new ones. This may not be an easy task but with time and therapy it can be achieved. Lapse and relapse is not a failure but a learning experience. Call or email, lets talk.
