I specialize in working with individuals with eating disorders, trauma and addictions I believe entering into a therapeutic relationship is scary for many, asking for help is not easy nor is risking trusting. You've been relying on a substance: whether it's alcohol, drugs, or behaviors that go with your eating disorder. A part of you wants to stop but you realize that you are not in control, you've lost the power of choice. Profound shame goes hand to hand with addiction and shame interferes with asking for help. Addictions/eating disorders rob a person of being fully alive asking for help is vital, we cannot recover alone.
I have been in the field for 30 plus years. I've had the privilege to work with individuals facing eating disorders, addictions, co occurring disorders, trauma. Beginning a therapeutic relationship requires courageous and enough pain to risk asking for help. You have both.
In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I also am a Certified Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor.
