I specialize in working with individuals with eating disorders and addictions. I believe entering into a therapeutic relationship requires courage and just enough hope and willingness to begin. You've been turning to a substance: whether it's alcohol, drugs, compulsive eating, starving, bulimia, sex etc. A part of you wants to stop but you realize that maybe you're not in control, you've lost the power of choice. Profound shame accompanies these illnesses and shame interferes with asking for help. Addictions/eating disorders robs a person of all they value in being alive asking for help is vital, we cannot recover alone.
I have been in the field for 30 plus years. I've had the privilege to work with individuals recovering from eating disorders, addictions, co occurring disorders, trauma. I feel beginning in a therapeutic relationship requires courageous and enough pain to be willing to reach out. You have both, I would love to work with you in this journey we call life.
In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I also am a Certified Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor.
