If you are looking for a psychotherapist, you have probably realized that the advice of even well-meaning significant others has not enabled you to make lasting changes. You have probably also realized that self-help books and do-it-yourself approaches have been insufficient ways of getting to the roots of your difficulties. You are probably experiencing emotional pain and feel dissatisfied with aspects of your life, such as work and relationships. You are motivated to make changes. You might even have realized that your difficulties are recurring and you might even have identified some patterns underlying your difficulties and choices.
I am a psychoanalyst and faculty member at the Psychoanalytic Institute affiliated with NYU School of Medicine. I have several years of post-doctoral training and experience in helping people understand their emotional problems in ways that lead to lasting changes. I work with adults and children with a wide range of problems.
Psychodynamic therapy, at a frequency of once or twice weekly sessions, and psychoanalysis, three to five times weekly, are forms of therapy that help work through emotional difficulties at deeper levels within the safety of a therapeutic relationship. I would be particularly attuned to your feelings of safety as we work together.
