I place a huge emphasis on listening to you while using a person-centered approach. I empower you to be able to identify what it is that is troubling you in a complex world of thoughts and emotions. We'll use a holistic model to integrate mind, body, and spirit. I encourage you to discover the skills or strategies that help you to be the best you can be. I like to provided a relaxed atmosphere where we can explore your life story, find your strengths, direction and start helping you to heal. I have had the opportunity to work with people of all ages from older adults to teens and children as small as 3 years old with variety of experiences from life changes, anxiety/ depression, families, behavior issues, lgbtq issues, careers, biploar, schizoaffective, psychosis and more.

I enjoy working with people from ages 16- 35. These are exciting and challenging times. Many people graduate from high school, go to college, start careers and start families. These are times when people begin to get to know themselves and become their true selves. These transitions can come with unique challenges. Sometimes one's values do not align with their families values, or their talents are not celebrated in their community. It can be very difficult to balance the demands of school, extra-curricular activities and a social life. Also, life doesn't stand still so difficult events like death, divorce and break-ups happen.

You want someone to provide care for yourself or your loved one, someone you feel comfortable with, someone you can come to trust. My approach to treatment is twofold: address the symptoms of distress, and seek resolution for the root cause of that distress. John W. Perry, Jr., Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who has been practicing since 1971. He completed a BA degree in psychology in 1966 and a Ph.D. degree in clinical psychology in 1971 at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed a predoctoral internship in clinical psychology in Palo Alto, California at the VA Hospital and a consortium of other agencies and universities. He has worked in various clinical and academic settings in Mississippi and Texas. He is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology.

I would describe my practice as helping people work through life issues in ways that promote relational, emotional and spiritual growth. My clinical areas of interest include spirituality, depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. I also specialize in working with men's issues. I apply a Christian/faith-based approach to counseling and am trained in both theology and professional counseling. I am an ordained minister and pastoral counselor. I don't impose my beliefs on clients, and respect all faith/spiritual traditions as valuable resources for healing. Areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, childhood abuse, personality disorders, faith crisis, marriage, family, adolescent, and relationship issues.

I believe an effective Counselor is one who supports individuals on their journey towards healing, and serves as a co-pilot guiding them through the challenges of process to a healthier, more fulfilling life. As a compassionate and empathetic individual, I have always been drawn to helping others overcome their struggles and find their path to happiness. I enjoy working with clients of all ages. I am often referred adolescents who are involved in the Juvenile Justice System. I am qualified to provide sexual education and guidance to all ages within the framework of their family, community, and religious beliefs. I give parents guidance in helping them to navigate through the courts and their children's schools while offering advice and additional resources. I provide psychotherapy for people struggling with family or personal issues. I am available daytime and early evening hours.
