I look forward to helping underserved youth/adolescent, adult, and LQBTQIA+ populations with an emphasis on Substance Use Disorders (SUD). I utilize a prescriptive and relational-cultural approach to treatment. I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor II (LADAC 2), and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I, (CADC I); in addition, I am on track to become a Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP), and a National Certified Addiction Counselor, Level II (NCAC II).

With a wealth of experience, I specialize in assisting adolescents, teens, and adults grappling with various mental health issues like depression, anxiety, stress-related disorders, and substance abuse. Additionally, I'm equipped to address trauma and grief, drawing from a diverse toolkit that includes Family Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques.

Through an integration of science and faith, I bring 30 years of experience, ongoing training and a very relational style to those who just long to be seen and heard. I am currently offering an online 12 week workshop for couples that integrates weekly in-person or live telehealth visits with essential learning through video modules that equips couples for the work needed for meaningful connection. This workshop, ReDiscover Us is available to anyone at any location inside or outside of Tennessee.

I want to help adults, children, or families have greater satisfaction in life by overcoming obstacles to mental health. Depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, parental absence, and marital infidelity are some of the problems I can help with. For those seeking a Christian perspective on mental health, I can provide that as well, though all are welcome.

Problems come in all different varieties whether interpersonally related or as a result of our environment. I have extensive success treating persons with PTSD, phobias, panic attacks, and unwanted habits with both hypnotherapy and individual counseling. My unique background as a university professor, clinical mental health counselor, and national board certified clinical hypnotherapist (fellow) allows me to provide an eclectic approach to effective individualized interventions.

So much of what happens in life feels outside our control. Hard experiences, in childhood or more recently, can start to dominate our outlook on the future. Nothing can erase bad experiences, but my hope for all of my clients is that they are able to integrate all of their experiences, and better know themselves.
