I am a counseling psychologist trained in positive psychology principles, cognitive behavioral research, client-centered counseling and psychodynamic therapy. I offer an integrative therapeutic approach to help individuals gain insight into their lives and the skills to bring about positive change. I provide care to individuals, couples and families and consultation services to groups and organizations. I specialize in working with adults, especially young adults in college and early career professionals struggling with mental health issues related to anxiety, depression, sexual difficulties, gender identity, substance use and intimate relationships.

I've had the sincere pleasure of being a therapist for 35 years. Having worked in a variety of settings has prepared me to be able to provide compassionate guidance to people wrestling with mood disorders (anxiety, depression and bi-polar) as well as to those experiencing struggles in their relationships (marital and family). For the past ten years in private practice, I have continued to assist others using a variety of therapeutic approaches: psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, relaxation and coping skills, grief therapy and assertiveness training.

I have found great joy in helping clients identify and navigate fear, uncertainty and doubt. How many times have we been dissuaded by fear? I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Akron. I specialize in working with children and teens, 8-18 years old and their families as well as Adults. I have experience with this age group in a community mental health and residential setting, as well as having worked with juveniles who have been mandated for treatment due to juvenile delinquency through the courts. Hello! I'm happy you're reading my profile since there are many profiles on this website. You might ask, "How am I different from other therapists?" Well, for starters, I am a man (I can't believe how many female therapists there are on Cleveland's west side!). My chief strength is helping adults, adolescents, and children who are struggling with depression and anxiety. I have been told by my clients they feel comfortable talking with me. Some of them have described me as calm and serene (My friends would laugh at this. Outside of therapy, I can be intense and anything but serene.)
