I have provided extensive assessment/consultation services to Florida's juvenile justice and child welfare systems, as well as academic testing for school-age children. One current area of interest is electronic overuse among children/adults. Welcome, My name is Demetrius K. Jifunza. I am a passionate licensed mental health counselor supporting clients in reestablishing balance to imbalances in their lives. I hold the firm belief that people are perfectly imperfect and often become stuck in life’s challenges, causing unhappiness and an inability to live fulfilling lives. I am integrative in my approach to therapy, consisting of solution-focused, narrative therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction.

My ideal client is one who knows they are in need of help and are eager to take an active role in their own counseling. I encourage clients to journal, in session and after the session, to make their own record of issues covered, directions that emerged from the counseling session, to journal thoughts and feelings between sessions, and to list issues and questions to address in their next session. For counseling clients, my goal is to help them effectively and efficiently to resolve the issues that brought them into counseling. For coaching clients, my goal is to assist them to achieve excellence in the area of their choosing.

I’m the best marriage & family counselor in the world! All right, maybe not THE best, but I’m pretty darned good, and I get great outcomes! I believe in teaching people what’s healthy, and then guide them along the way. I call it Applied Human Growth & Potential™ and here’s why. We have so much research about what healthy and effective people do that it makes absolutely no sense to hang out and spend good money with a referee just trying to solve problems.
