I am an experienced and compassionate therapist. My focus is always on spiritual, practical, and recovery strategies tailored to the individual. If you are ready to begin the journey to health, strength and conscious awareness I have the skills to help you attain your goals. I am DEEP and SAP approved. I provide couples therapy as well as individual counseling for children and adults affected by alcoholic and drug addicted family members. I also provide group and individual therapy for anger management.

It is my belief that each of us can heal from emotional, physical and sexual trauma. In the prescense of compassion, kindness and non-judgment, I listen to, and witness the suffering and profound pain shared during therapy. In therapy, the healing power of compassion; sense of being understood by and cared for by another human being is offered. Each of us has the same needs when we are suffering; to feel validated, safe and understood for the duration of our journey. In our work together, I will offer support, encouragement, and honesty, tempered with compassion.

Welcome! Choosing a therapist is a big decision, and I appreciate being considered! While my background and training have focused strongly on child, adolescent and family therapy, I also work with individual women and couples. I sometimes say that I use a "family doc" model of psychotherapy. That is, I might see an anxious child individually and then, because kids' issues are so intertwined with their families will work with the whole family for a period of time. Or I might spend some sessions with an individual woman, who would then like to bring her partner for couples therapy.

I have worked with many clients who need to find ways to deal with their anxiety and/or depression and teach them how to trust their own intuition through Equine Assisted Counseling and various treatment interventions including but not limited to mindfulness based stress reduction, strength based and solution focused life coaching, CBT and/or DBT strategies.

I approach therapy from a strong person centered perspective. I believe that all persons have the ability to change. I utilize an active listening, non-judgmental approach that allows clients to utilize their own native ability to solve their own problems. I believe that every person has a strong drive to expand and grow and to achieve their fullest potential. My small independent practice is set in central Maine downtown Skowhegan. With a quiet feel many clients comment on how relaxed and homey it feels during their sessions. My goal is to make others feel safe and welcome into the space. I thoroughly enjoy working with Clients to discover their goals, increase their quality of life and unwrap their feelings of self-worth. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with many years of experience working with people who suffer from symptoms of anxiety and depression. My approach is deeply personalized and tailored for each individual. Often, the root cause of distress is related to trauma or neglect. I work with individuals holistically through painful memories, helping them to unveil false beliefs about themselves and their potential. I have extensive experience treating those with substance abuse issues, helping them to discover the underlying issues and to develop healthier ways to cope with the pain.

I specialize in working with children and adolescents ages 3-19. I have specific training in trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness-based therapy and play therapy. I help clients with a wide variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, anger, PTSD, and ADHD.

All human beings wish to experience growth of their potential and genuine self. When this fundamental need is frustrated, we can form a false self and feel lost in anxiety and depression. Healing has the opportunity to emerge when we connect with the compassionate support of another person, and internalize this kindness to build an uplifting relationship with oneself.
