Whether you are experiencing loss, managing grief or just trying to cope with the regular stressors of life and relationships, connecting with a therapist that can honor your experience and sit with your story alongside you can provide relief and healing.
What I know for sure is it can be hard to be human while it can also can be awe-inducing and wonderful. In my 26 years of practice I have come to find that what I enjoy the most in my work is supporting clients in sitting in this duality and finding peace in the presence of their lives. We can try so hard to run from our tough emotions in all kinds of adaptive human ways, but when we practice accepting them the deep healing can begin.

In the adult client, I especially enjoy witnessing one's ability to reject ineffective patterns of thinking in order to reach and sustain personal growth. Facing what we find to recognize either by internal or external forces that needs correction, is the first step in the process of effecting change. In adolescents, a shift to effect change can be a bit more challenging but no fault of theirs. Helping clients to navigate the life courses; expected and unexpected can be an exciting process to experience.

People often contact me for help with relationships, depression, anxiety, stress management, grief/loss, and other life transitions.
Thirty years as a psychotherapist has given me many relevant experiences to draw on. For over 20 years I was a child and family therapist. That background gives depth to my understanding of individual and family dynamics. Other specialization areas are work issues, healing from trauma, and medical/wellness issues.

You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck—like your thoughts just won’t slow down. Or a loss of motivation has slowed things down too much. Maybe a recent change has left you unsteady, or you feel disconnected from yourself or others. These feelings can weigh you down, leaving you unsure how to move forward. You want a space to pause, breathe deeply, and let things settle. Through conversation and, when you choose, creative expression, we can uncover meaning, reconnect with your strengths, and help you feel more grounded, hopeful, and ready for next steps.

A strong and loving relationship is possible—even if you feel stuck right now. With over 50 years of experience as a therapist and senior Zen teacher, I help couples slow down, listen more deeply, and discover how to be present with each other. Couples come to me because communication has broken down. It’s not just what you say, but how you say it. I help partners find a shared language so both people feel heard, valued, and understood. If you and your partner are ready to move beyond old hurts, strengthen your connection, and create a relationship that feels more alive and resilient, I would be honored to guide you.

When we are faced with the common ebb and flow of life's challenges we sometimes cope in ways that may not serve our best-self, compromising our relationships, family, physical health, or career.
I draw from cognitive and Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) perspectives to help improve self-awareness and insight assisting in self-exploration, growth and change. As a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Instructor I incorporate Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as an approach to foster mental and physical wellbeing.
