About
There are many powerful tools available to help individuals, couples, and families achieve meaningful, positive change in their lives. As a psychologist in clinical practice for over 25 years, I am vitally engaged in the process of integrating a broad range of therapeutic practices to meet the unique needs of each client. Effective psychotherapy can be of great assistance in negotiating the complexities of modern human existence. Engaging mind, heart, and intuition, it is a process that may become an "adventure of the Soul" imparting profound benefit beyond the alleviation of symptoms.
A strong client-therapist relationship is critical to successful psychotherapy. Most clients experience my presence as warm, calm, collaborative, and genuine. Careful, attuned listening is at the heart of my approach, but I am not hesitant to offer observations, suggestions, "road maps" for healing, (and humor).
In addition to private practice, I served as Director of Psychological Counseling Services at Bowdoin College from 1990-2004, have provided clinical supervision for many other therapists, and have lectured and consulted throughout the Northeast. I am married and a parent of two young adult children.
